James Brelsford

Jim Brelsford is an experienced executive in IP licensing and a technology lawyer who has spent decades working at the intersection of law, technology, and international business.

He is now in his tenth year as President of SD-3C LLC, a company that licenses a range of intellectual property rights—including SEPs, utility patents, and trademarks—for SD and microSD memory cards (and ancillary products) around the world.  SD-3C LLC has about 400 licensees, most of whom are based in Asia.

Jim’s previous roles include serving as general counsel for public and private companies, and in 2010 he was recognized as Silicon Valley’s best General Counsel for large public companies.  He has also been a partner or held leadership positions at global law firms such as Skadden Arps, Jones Day, and Perkins Coie.
