Kowit Somwaiya

Kowit Somwaiya studied law in Thailand and the USA. He is a licensed lawyer and a licensed patent agent of Thailand. He established LawPlus Ltd. in 2003 and LawPlus Myanmar Ltd. in 2013.  He is a highly respected intellectual property practitioner with over 30 years of experience advising MNCs and leading businesses on complex IP matters, including trademark and patent prosecution, enforcement, anti-counterfeiting, IP litigation, and IP-related commercial transactions.  He is widely recognized for his leadership in developing effective IP protection and enforcement strategies across Thailand and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Kowit has held senior leadership roles in major international and regional IP organizations.  He served on the Board of Directors of the International Trademark Association (INTA) (2018–2020), as Vice President of the Intellectual Property Association of Thailand (IPAT) (2017–2019), and in various leadership and committee roles with INTA and the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA).
