Founder/CEOAmplified AI (USA)
Samuel Davis is the CEO and co-founder of Amplified, an artificial intelligence company building AI systems designed to help organizations understand the world’s technical knowledge. His work focuses on a fundamental challenge facing modern innovation: humanity’s ability to generate new inventions and technical information has far outpaced our ability to process and interpret it.
Sam has spent much of his career working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, intellectual property, and innovation strategy. Since 2010, he has focused on the growing gap between the scale of global technical information and the ability of companies, researchers, and institutions to extract meaningful insight from it. When critical knowledge becomes too difficult to navigate, the systems meant to encourage innovation instead slow it down.
Driven by this challenge, Sam founded Amplified in 2017. The company develops AI-native infrastructure for organizing and contextualizing large bodies of technical information. While Amplified’s first applications focus on the global patent corpus—one of the world’s largest structured collections of technical knowledge—the broader goal is to build systems that help people explore, interpret, and build upon the expanding frontier of human invention.
Amplified works with organizations around the world seeking to make the rapidly expanding universe of technical knowledge more navigable, interpretable, and useful for accelerating innovation. To do this, the company began developing transformer-based language models in 2017 to organize the global corpus of patent documents. Today, R&D teams and intellectual property professionals use Amplified’s technology to automate prior art search, rapidly explore technological landscapes, and make better strategic decisions about innovation and patent portfolios.
Sam is a frequent speaker on artificial intelligence and the future of innovation systems. He has been invited to share his perspectives at international conferences and institutions including the European Patent Office and has been recognized in the IAM Strategy 300 as one of the world’s leading IP strategists. Originally from the United States, Sam lived in Japan for more than a decade and speaks Japanese fluently.
